Hello from the second coldest place on earth! Yes this statement is indeed true - we were beaten to the number 1 spot by none other than The South Pole! Anyways, hello from Canada and apologies for the delay in updating our blog. Where to begin...
The girls have settled in nicely to their new(ish) environment. They couldn't wait to get back behind the wheel of their car (a red Little Tikes car that laurie got for her first Easter) and they love all of their old friends again but are still missing their Scottish ones :( Laurie asks about everyone in Scotland and when she'll see them again - especially Gran and the kids in the family - so sad! But hopefully everyone will visit us soon hint hint! She is growing up so fast and still an amazing big sister - she is so caring with Alyssa and just loves all babies soooo much.
Alyssa is a parrot now and is all pleased with the words she can say. She has quite a lot of them now but as usual you ask her to perform them and nothing. She stares blankly at you as if you're making it all up, but trust me she does :) She is getting so big (with the exception of her tiny feet - she's still in her 3-6 months shoes?!). She is so fun with her little personality shining through and of course the feistiness coming every now and again. I'll get updated photos of them soon - we are without a camera at the moment.
Ryan is working for Raise Marketing and really enjoys his job. He is networking his butt off and enjoying the challenge. He is also doing snow removal which will probably keep him nice and busy since we live in Calgary! He still misses all the Airdrie boys and his calling so hopefully he'll have another one soon seeing as we're now in a new ward which leads me nicely to...
We have a house - yippee! Yip we now officially have our big toe on the property ladder. Its a gorgeous house around the corner from the in-laws and friends and we love it. We move in on December 31st so perfect for the New Year, so excited!! Bellissima Weddings (Sharon and my wedding business) had its first gig last night and it went well. We have another wedding in December. We're starting to promote it next year so it might be a busy one. If you know anyone getting married (in Calgary) get them to contact us: BellissimaWeddingsInfo@gmail.com. Also with me, I am starting a dayhome on December 1st. I am already full so this will be fun for the girls having their own playroom in the basement and lots of friends visiting during the day. Alyssa is a big 1 year old! What a fast year that was. She had her "Think Pink" party and all of the guests had to wear pink. Talented Daddy was the entertainment for the afternoon with his magic tricks and balloon animals for all the children (see pics above of his vase of flowers). Maybe we'll start to hire him out :) She had lots of fun and lots of fabulous gifts - she'll definitely be a little trend setter with all of her new clothes! In true birthday style Gran made her 1st birthday cake too.
We're trying to make the most of our time left in Bonnie Scotland - we're out and about every day visiting lots of castles, palaces and ruins and also basking in the glorious sunshine at the parks and lakes with the girls. We're not sure what happened to July and August but September is summer again!! We also had an exciting trip to see Peppa Pig (google her if you don't know her - she was the theme for Laurie's party in July)- both girls were so excited to meet her (again see pics above).
The girls are doing well - Alyssa started crawling a few days before her birthday and she's completely unstoppable - going from not crawling at all to being off like a speeding bullet - she's quite a pro! She has also gone from being our little sweet angel to a little terror. She has quite the temper on her too if she doesn't get her own way - oh oh - I think the female Forsyth gene is also into the next generation - boys had better beware! In saying that she is still completely cute and very loveable - she can wrap anyone around those little fingers of hers!!
Laurie is still our little chatterbox - her speech continues to go from strength to strength and there is a very noticeable Scottish accent there. We need to get lots of conversations on film so we don't forget it as I'm sure the Canadian accent will kick in very soon. It's great that the weather is so nice as she can play outside all day long - she'll really miss her friend Jamie from next door or as his brother calls him her "boyfriend". She is still a wonderful big sister and continues to look after Alyssa and share her toys. The only exception to the rule is her "baby". She just loves this filthy doll that has no clothes and takes her everywhere she goes - she is such a good little Mummy (I must be setting a good example ha ha).
With us... I have started teaching Zumba and love love love it! It's such a feel good workout and as they say "ditch the workout and join the party" every class does feel like a party! The girls are getting into it too - they dance along to every song and Laurie says "Zumba good Mummy". Ryan has been looking online for jobs in Calgary so we'll see what he comes up with in the next few weeks. Speaking of which - the countdown has begun... 3 weeks on Wednesday and we'll be leaving my home country for my adopted home country... eek!! Until next month or until we see you in person... June & July
Happy 2nd birthday Laurie! We can't believe that she is now 2! Such a big girl in such a short space of time. She had such a fun birthday party with all of her cousins and friends (and I'm sure the grown-ups too). It was a Peppa Pig themed one and we hired a bouncy castle and they all bounced until they dropped - we got some pictures of this but unfortunately we had the camera on the wrong mode so all of the indoor ones are a bit fuzzy so we've only included one:( Laurie got her hands (or should I say mouth) on her birthday cake before anyone noticed - as usual with her, she can sniff out sugar a mile away.
Laurie is getting even busier - we didn't think this was possible but she is happily proving us wrong! She has "escaped" 3 times now. We find her somewhere near the house with her wellies on the wrong feet and not a lot of clothes on splashing in the puddles! Luckily for us we've gotten her back safe and sound but need to be more vigilent!! She has also been helping Gran June with the wall papering as you can see above - we're thinking of hiring her out if anyone needs some slave labour painting and decorating done :)
Our little Alyssa is not so little anymore - well kind of! She is still wearing some 3-6 month clothes (maybe they were labelled wrong?!) and still in her stroller car seat so she is a petite little lady and is 1 next month! Time has flown by! She has now said her first official real word... Kara! Can you believe in a house with this many people she calls on the dog first? She loves her and loves playing with her so I guess its understandable. She has yet to crawl but who needs crawling when you're a teleporter? Gran June has dubbed her "the invisible mover". You place her somewhere and within seconds she's across the room with hardly a movement! When we take her to my music classes she loves it - she knows exactly what to do with all of the instruments! Maybe this one is our little musician.
With us... as most of you know we are relocating back across the pond to Canada in the near future so we're just getting organised for that! But here and now in Bonnie Scotland we're enjoying our time with the girls out on day trips here and there, I am teaching my music classes and I have submitted my first assignment for my wedding planning course - eek!! Ryan is working part-time for an engineering friend in Calgary doing work online, he is still loving Young Mens and will be sad to say goodbye to the boys! He's just back from camp and is now officially fed up with the rain - I'm surprised it took him this long! After his weekend of being sopping wet all weekend long he is missing the sunshine!
By the way, the blurry photo of Ryan and me is us cutting the top layer of our wedding cake - it was still edible but for some reason our guests didn't want to try a piece of 4 year old cake??!!

What a busy little month it's been! What have we been up to in the photos above... Cinco de Mayo party (hence Laurie in her sombrero and bashing the pinata), away for a lovely weekend staying in a organic farm in the Scottish borders and where we visited Melrose Abbey, Dryburgh Abbey, Jedburgh Abbey and Smailholm Tower, a day at the beach in the scorching sunshine and said "goodbye" to daddy :( As you've guessed, Ryan is back in Canada (during a little snowstorm I might add) to sort out his visa and see if Bonnie Scotland deem him worthy to become one of us. He got there on Wednesday on a one-way ticket so we're not sure when he'll be back but hopefully very soon! He has his graduation from University next week that he may or may not be attending depending on his visa. With all of the Peters girls - I'm still working away and loving it! At the moment I am also choreographing 2 routines for a UK wide competition in Blackpool in June - hope the girlies do well!! Laurie & Alyssa are fabulous - growing up so quickly (I can't believe Laurie is almost 2 and Alyssa almost 1) and having loads of fun together - they make each other giggle all the time and it's so cute to watch. Laurie is the sweetest big sister ever & just adores Alyssa or "jzisha" as she calls her. Laurie chats all the time & has real person conversations with everyone. She sings and dances all the time and seems to be a girlie girl. Alyssa is a little water baby! She is a natural at swimming and splashing around. She's getting better at standing on her feet and now dances around and loves music - looks like we have a couple of dancing queens on our hands. What gorgeous weather...
To our friends and family in Canada - we have had fabulous weather here in Bonnie Scotland! We had a weekend of sightseeing and sunbathing, we visited Helensburgh (the seaside), Dunfermline Abbey (where Robert the Bruce is buried, also where I was a bridesmaid once upon a time) and Loch Leven Castle (a castle on an island where you get on a little boat to go and visit). Also in there are photos of us at Polkemmet Country Park with Gran and Kara and a photo of a familiar place??!! Hope you enjoy our "rubbing it in your faces" photos in the slideshow above ;) Here is a little video of Laurie running around and looking for flowers:

Happy Easter
Hello family & friends, here is our little March and Easter weekend update. The pictures are very new - we took a lot over this weekend while at an Easter fun day in Palacerigg Country Park where we got to see baby chicks, lambs, calves etc. decorating eggs at home and today on an Easter egg hunt in the front and back yards and Laurie dressed up as a chick and Alyssa dressed up as a bunny.
Last month was a fun one - Laurie is such a little chatterbox! She is so good at talking and can now converse in sentences so now we know what she needs because she's not shy in letting us know. She is quite the little joiner and loves playing with any other children she can find. Her favourite thing of the moment is to say "dance" and just start breaking into all her new moves, very cute! Thankfully our weather is a lot better because she loves to be outside playing rain, hail or shine and during the course of the month we've been out in all 3.
Our little Alyssa is not so little anymore! She is moving around so much and can't be left sitting on chairs etc. as she's offski. She's still not too interested in crawling or standing but I'm sure that'll come in her own sweet time. She has 2 teeth now and we can see a few more getting ready to come through. She finds Laurie funny and they giggle at each other a lot. Her first words have come and they are "dada" - no surprise - but I'm glad to say she's still a mummy's girl :) She is eating real food now which is a relief as it didn't look like it was happening anytime soon.
Ryan has started his web development courses and is loving them. His first project was creating a program to calculate mortgage payments so if anyone needs that info who know who to contact! He is off on a camping trip with friends next week - rather him than me!!
I started my Musical Steps classes this week and loved it! I am visiting nurseries and toddler groups to give sessions and we're flyering lots so hopefully I'll be filling them up fast. My other good news is... I am the slimmest I have been in about 5 years - yippee! My buns, legs & tums classes are paying off - I couldn't help sharing this news with you all :)
